Examples of care we offer
 |
Day surgery tonsillectomy- David has been performing tonsillectomy as day
surgery since learning valuable techniques during his additional overseas training. David has performed over 1000 day stay tonsillectomy
procedures in children over the past 5 years, making him one of Australia's most
experienced paediatric day surgery tonsil surgeons. He has also performed about
500 in adults over the same time period.
|
 |
Infant and toddler surgery- David operates on very young children,
sometimes under the age of 12 months. Tonsillectomy is available from 12 months
of age onwards, when indicated.
|
 |
Adenoidectomy under vision- there are several techniques used for
removing adenoids,
and a common one is to scrape them out. A problem of adenoid removal is leaving
tissue behind, and regrowth of the adenoids. David has adopted the technique of
Monopolar suction diathermy under visualisation, which he learnt whilst
overseas. In his hands, where he has done over 2,000 by this method, less than
2% of children have required the adenoids to be removed again. (This compares to
a study that found that scraping them out blindly left adenoid tissue behind in
close to 70% of cases).
|
 |
Frontal sinus drainage- Comprehensive management of sinus
disease entails being able to manage disease in the frontal sinuses.
Technically, this is usually the hardest part of sinus surgery. |
 |
Coblation- David has had over 10 years experience with coblation
assisted surgery. The main area of use in David's practice is Paediatric
Inferior Turbinate reduction. |
