Rhinoplasty is more than how the nose looks- it is also important to focus on how it works- ENT Surgeons are the only surgeons trained in the combination of rhinoplasty, nasal surgery, and sinus surgery.

As the appearance of the nose on the outside is often a reflection of what is going on inside, correcting the visual aspects without addressing the functional aspects can end up in a result where there are still problems.

In making decisions on your nasal surgery, especially for a Rhinoplasty, we feel you should know as much as possible about your surgeon. The following is a summary on the relevant training Dr Timperley has in this field of surgery.

bullet

Rhinoplasty with Dr George Marcells, lwho is a eading facial plastic ENT surgeon based in Bondi, Sydney

bullet

Advanced endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery: Professors Ray Sacks and Richard Harvey (Sydney), and Aldo Stamm (Brazil)

bullet

Dr Timperley is trained in all aspects of nasal function. He has published research on nasal appearance and function following rhinoplasty, and has presented on these topics at both national and international conferences.

bullet

Comprehensive assessment of the nose is performed including endoscopic examination. Computer imaging technology is used to aid assessment and to help to demonstrate the expected appearance of the nose.

Dr Timperley uses Open Structure Rhinoplasty techniques which aim to create a strong structure to support the nose. These techniques are more technically demanding and time consuming but allow a more predictable result.

A few key points about Rhinoplasty

o        The nose is the central feature of the face and abnormalities or undesired features such as a large bump, asymmetry, or a boxy or drooping tip can draw attention away from other attractive features of the face

o        Abnormalities of the nose are often associated with breathing difficulties and sometimes with other problems such as sinus disease

o        Whether you've always had a nose you're uncomfortable with or it has changed due to injury or previous surgery, rhinoplasty may be an option, with the aim to restore harmony and balance to the face, and to improve nasal breathing where required.
