Daniel Timperley MBChB FRACS

SPECIALIST TRAINING

Daniel trained in New Zealand, with 6 years of medical school followed by 2 years as a resident. He then spent a total of 8 years in basic and advanced surgical training in Ear, Nose and Throat surgery, qualifying as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is a fully qualified specialist and registered with the Medical Board of Australia

POST FELLOWSHIP TRAINING

Following completion of advanced training in Ear, Nose and Throat surgery, Daniel spent a year in Sydney undergoing further specialist training in rhinoplasty and endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery with Associate Professors Ray Sacks and Richard Harvey, and Dr George Marcells.

Following this, he spent a further month working in Sao Paulo with Dr Aldo Stamm, a world leader in endoscopic skull base surgery.

INTERESTS

Daniel is trained in all aspects of ENT surgery. In addition, he has advanced training and special interests in:

Rhinoplasty – operating on the nose to improve appearance and function

Nose and sinus disease – comprehensive medical and surgical management of nasal and sinus conditions including advanced endoscopic sinus surgery and treatment of sinonasal tumours

Endoscopic Skull Base surgery – minimally invasive approaches to the base of the skull and the brain through the nose (often performed in partnership with neurosurgeons)

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

Daniel has published papers on chronic sinusitis, sinus surgery and rhinoplasty. He has presented papers at conferences in Australia and New Zealand as well as internationally in USA and Brazil.

He has been involved with teaching courses on Rhinoplasty, Endoscopic Orbital Surgery and Endoscopic Sinus surgery. In addition, he has attended many courses on ENT surgery including facial plastic surgery, temporal bone dissection and skull base surgery

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Daniel  is currently a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is the Queensland representative of the Australasian Rhinologic Society
