We make every effort to see you promptly, and if it is an urgent problem, your GP can call us to prioritise an emergency review. We consider your appointment as an opportunity to discuss your problem and give advice on treatment options. If surgery is recommended, the procedure and its risks are discussed. Who should you ask to see? Both Daniel and David are general trained ENT and Head and Neck Surgeons but they also sub-specialise. Daniel's areas of expertise are rhinoplasty (reconstructive and cosmetic) and sinus disease. David's areas of expertise are paediatrics and managing patients with dental and orthodontic issues secondary to breathing problems. Our visiting Specialist, Dr Theo specialises in disorders of the voice and sleep apnoea. Personal and Private Care: The advantages of private treatment is that often the waiting times for clinical assessment, treatment, and surgery are much shorter than elsewhere. Furthermore, there is flexibility in your appointment and surgery dates. Very importantly, you have the opportunity to meet with the specialist who will actually be doing the operation.
Treatment as a private patient is subsidised by Medicare, Private Health Insurance, and tax rebates (depending upon personal circumstances). Whilst the public offers a free service, this does not necessarily mean it comes without expense. Issues such as days of ongoing illness whilst waiting for your care, travel, petrol, and accommodation to access your care, and inflexible appointments all need to be taken into account. Furthermore, you are less likely to see the same doctor looking after your health and well being. Referrals are required to access the full Medicare subsidy, but we do see patients without such referrals also. |
